If you may be interested in submitting a retroactive petition, please follow the steps below:
- Meet with your adviser. They will discuss the various petition types and help you determine which may best fit your situation.
Student Petition Types - If you determine you would like to proceed with a senate petition, your adviser will share the link to submit your petition. Petitions will no longer be accepted by email.
- Make sure you review the requirements for your petition type. You will need to have all documents ready to upload at the time of submission.
- Once submitted, the petition will be reviewed by the Altoona Senate Petition contact. If you encounter any issues or have questions regarding your submission, please email Gina Baird at [email protected].
- If the petition is complete, your petition will be forwarded to the University Faculty Senate committee for review.
- Students will receive an email with the committee’s final decision.

Important Notes Regarding Petitions
- Please remember that student petitions cannot contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as Social Security Numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account numbers, credit or debit card numbers, passport information and any biometric data like fingerprints, facial images, DNA profiles, etc.
- Petitions may also not contain PII for another Penn State student, so there are no names, IDs, grades, etc., for another student.
