The chemistry minor complements degrees in the physical sciences, biological sciences, and engineering. It introduces students to the fundamental principles of chemistry through general, organic, physical, and analytical chemistry courses. In addition, students are able to customize the minor by choosing a number of advanced 400-level courses (including three credits of approved biochemistry courses) that best serve their interests. This minor can provide in-depth knowledge of the basic connections between chemical principles and related areas of application. Students enrolled in biology, environmental studies, engineering, science, and other majors may wish to supplement their expertise with a more thorough chemistry background to enhance their professional opportunities in chemistry-related fields and industries.
Registering for the Minor
Upon reaching the fifth semester (or greater), you will apply for Entrance to Minor through the "Update Academics" section of the LionPATH Student Center. You are strongly encouraged to discuss your options with your adviser and with the chemistry minor coordinator to plan your schedule of courses.
