Biography
Brooke Heidenreich Findley, associate professor of French and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, holds an M.A. from Middlebury College and a Ph.D. from Duke University. Her research specialization is French medieval literature and culture, with particular interests in gender, sexuality, and ecocriticism. She is the author of Poet Heroines in Medieval French Narrative: Gender and Fictions of Literary Creation (Palgrave, 2012). She has also published numerous articles on a range of topics related to medieval literature, including Abelard and Heloise, trobairitz poetry, Guillaume de Machaut, Jean Froissart, and the anonymous French prose romance Perceforest. Some of her more recent work involves exploring creative writing as a means of engaging with and reacting to medieval literature. She teaches courses in French language, literature, and culture; medieval literature and culture; and feminist and gender theory.
